VAN STRAATEN INTRODUCES NEW FABRICS FOR THE WORLD'S LARGEST SUBLIMATION PRINTER

Van Straaten will be introducing a range of new 5 m wide print media, coinciding with the announcement of the new Durst Rhotex 500 – the world's largest sublimation printer – now being in production at Van Straaten. Van Straaten's specialists joined forces with the German textile manufacturer HEYtex to further develop three existing textiles for use on 5 m wide sublimation printers. This makes Van Straaten the first to enable sublimation printing on this large scale.

The Rhotex 500 is the world's first sublimation printer capable of printing on 5 m wide fabrics. Up until now, sublimation printers have been able to handle a maximum of 3.2 m. This breakthrough makes it possible to sublimation print large spreads in one run without the need for joins, producing truly stunning, high-quality results. Sublimation printing is also eco-friendlier. The new textiles contain no heavy metals or PVC, and are REACH compliant, meaning they have a reduced ecological footprint. Sublimated textiles can also be folded. This means that they can be packaged, stored and transported more efficiently and sustainably than when rolled.

THREE TYPES OF SOFT FABRIC AVAILABLE FOR 5 M SUBLIMATION PRINTING

It is impossible to produce high-quality sublimation prints without using the highest-grade fabrics. This is why Van Straaten and HEYtex developed and tested three high-grade textiles in parallel with the development and testing of the Rhotex 500. Van Straaten will be making the following materials available as per today for use on 5 m sublimation printers:

  • VS-Decotex 500 – magnificent colour rendering and aesthetic matt appearance. Decotex 500 has just the right amount of stretch. The 3.2 m version of this material is already in use in countless interiors, retail outlets and at trade shows worldwide. VS-Decotex 500 is B1 certified.
  • VS-BlockOut Blackback – polyester with black backing, making it 100% opaque. This is an existing material that was originally developed for UV printing, but proved equally suitable for sublimation printing. Ideal for trade show stands. VS-BlockOut Blackback is also B1 certified.
  • VS-Flag 110 – a gorgeous, semi-transparent material for indoor and outdoor use. This material is highly versatile.  With a 90% show-through, designs are also visible on the reverse side, albeit mirror image. UV resistant and waterproof once sublimated. VS-Flag 110 is also B1 certified.

Van Straaten will be presenting these materials on the HEYtex stand at the FESPA Digital 2016 trade show being held at the RAI Amsterdam from 08 to 11 March (Hall 1, Booth H60).
