As a Technical DTP Specialist at Van Straaten, you are not the person who checks every single file manually from start to finish. Our automated ESKO workflows largely take care of that. Your job is to keep those processes running smoothly and to make sure that jobs needing extra attention are handled the right way.
You keep an eye on our workflows, assess notifications and exceptions, and make sure issues are resolved before they delay production unnecessarily. You work closely with DTP, production, sales and back office.
For our larger key accounts you also take on small artwork tasks when this makes commercial sense. You might build out existing artwork variants, adjust formats or process simple changes. That makes you a practical link between customer requests, digital workflow and production.
This role suits someone who enjoys understanding how systems and processes work, who is not put off by a technical error message, and who would rather solve a problem than simply report that there is one.
What will you be doing?
- You monitor the DTP and production workflows and keep track of ongoing jobs.
- You assess workflow notifications and exceptions and decide what action is needed.
- You resolve technical issues yourself where possible and coordinate with colleagues when necessary.
- You make sure jobs move through the workflow towards production as efficiently as possible.
- You make small adjustments to existing artwork and handle simple layout work for key accounts.
- You translate practical customer or production questions into a technically workable solution.
- You support colleagues with questions about DTP, workflows and technical files.
- You spot opportunities to make recurring tasks smarter, faster or more automated.
- You contribute to the further development of our digital production processes.
What do you bring?
- Vocational (MBO-4) level of working and thinking, preferably in DTP, graphic design or a comparable field.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop.
- A solid working knowledge of DTP and graphic production.
- An interest in workflows, automation and technical systems.
- Experience with automation tools (ESKO / Enfocus Switch) or PrintFactory is a plus.
- You enjoy analysing technical problems independently.
- Experience with large-format print production is a plus.
- An affinity with programming, scripting or process automation is a welcome bonus.
This is you
- You are technically curious and want to understand how things work.
- You quickly see connections and can logically analyse where something goes wrong.
- You are practical: not just flagging issues, but above all solving them.
- You work accurately, without making things more complicated than they need to be.
- You set priorities well when several jobs need attention at once.
- You communicate easily with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- You think commercially and can judge when extra DTP work adds value.
- You have an eye for improvement and automation.
What do we offer?

- Plenty of scope to contribute ideas on workflows, automation and process improvement.
- A role where DTP knowledge and technical insight come together.
- A friendly, driven team where collaboration comes first.
- Room for growth, training and personal development.

- The warm feeling of a family business.
